Who are we?
Who are we?
Hayfield Clog Dancers are a High Peak-based group established in July 2024 by Sarah Davenport. We gather every Friday morning to learn and rehearse new steps, accompanied by our very own house band!
Clog dancing is one a percussive form of dance originating from the industrial heartlands of the North. The English tradition evolved during the Industrial Revolution, where workers in the cotton mills of Lancashire and the collieries of the Northeast wore clogs for protection and durability. In their downtime, they mimicked the rhythmic clatter of the machinery around them. We are proud to keep this tradition alive!
